I work for one of the larger UK banks in IT Management and I am very grateful for the time that they allow me to spend away from the office and in my home office where I can keep an eye on things at home. I do completely agree with all of the points that you have raised though and I have definitely found it difficult to get my own family to know that when I'm in the home-office, it is work time...not play time.
