How to watch football online for free

Whilst both Sky and Setanta are marketing themselves as the big players in the live football market, you don’t have to re-mortgage your house just yet to watch the matches. Depending on the package that you have with Sky, you could be spending up to £40 per month for your TV. When you add on the £9.99 for Setanta’s live games and even the £50-60 for Sky’s PremPlus offerings, your season’s spend on live football starts working out as expensive as a season ticket for a mid-sized Premiership club.

Luckily, this is where the Internet can help you out! You can watch live games every weekend and also during the week. Games will vary between Premiership, FA Cup, Champions League and Internationals. Whenever I’ve personally wanted to watch a match, I’ve always found something suitable and entertaining.

The piece of software that you need to download is called Sopcast. This is a very easy application to use and the instructions are provided in English. Which is quite unlike the much advocated PPLive which is hard to understand and configure due to the software being written in Chinese.

Once you have installed Sopcast, navigate your way to this page. This site contains up-to-date schedules listing many football matches from across the globe. It would be a great idea to keep this site bookmarked for easy access. There are even links on here to watch the games using other players, in case you find that Sopcast doesn’t work out so well for you. To watch a match, simply click on the Sopcast link next to the game listing.

Thanks for the excellent tips! I can’t wait for the new Premiership season to start!! Who do you support?

Hi John,

Thanks for being the first to comment on our new site :) I’m a Liverpool fan! What about yourself?

I’m really looking forward to the new season and hopefully seeing Liverpool get a good start. It’s depressing being 10-15 points behind after a couple of months…every single season!
